On Tuesday, the Belarusian opposition leader Svetlana Tikhanovskaya gave a speech to the plenary of the European Parliament in Strasbourg. "Today, many women in Belarus do not get flowers, but prison sentences," she referred to the occasion of the invitation to celebrate International Women's Day. Among the 1,200 political prisoners of her country, 155 women, she said.
