In 2025, the European authorities distributed more than 330 fines for non-compliance with the GDPR. The total amount is around EUR 1.15 billion, according to a study by Surfshark. However, once the number of users concerned has been reported, the calculation changes radically. The TikTok fine of EUR 530 million, the heaviest of the year, is barely EUR 2.64 per affected user.
