The state of emergency is in effect for two months to secure energy and water supplies.

Moldova faces serious challenges in energy and water supply, and the state of emergency will allow the authorities to react more quickly to rising prices and resource shortages.
Currently, only 22 cubic meters of water per second flows into the Novodniestrovsk reservoir, while the Moldovan authorities state that a minimum of 60 cubic meters is required.
After the Government vote, Prime Minister Vasile Tofan came to Parliament to ask for the establishment of a state of emergency in the energy and hydrological sector for 60 days from 26 September.
