Fires engulf Turkey’s Mediterranean coast as government declares 2 disaster zones
ANTALYA, TURKEY, JUL 25 – More than 12,000 personnel have fought fires that destroyed 311 homes and caused 13 deaths as strong winds and dry conditions fuel wildfires across multiple provinces.
- On Friday, wildfires erupted along Turkey’s Mediterranean coast, igniting east of Antalya in Adana and Mersin, and two western provinces were declared disaster zones.
- Strong winds and dry conditions have driven the blazes, while late June saw widespread wildfires across Turkey.
