Nineteen EU countries seek EU funding and legal frameworks to establish return hubs outside the bloc to better manage failed asylum seekers and migration control.

After the European Union significantly tightened its immigration policy earlier this month, 19 EU countries on Wednesday urged the European Commission to finance "return hubs" outside the bloc for failed asylum-seekers.
A number of EEA/EU countries have agreed to establish a common legal basis for asylum and exit centres in third countries outside Europe. Now 19 countries want the EU Commission to ensure that the funding can be done through EU funds. But Norway is not among these 19. This can be seen as a Christmas present - for the future of Europe.
