Invited to the European Summit which opened on Thursday 18 June in Brussels, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky hopes to see the opening of Ukraine's other five stages of negotiations to the European Union this summer, and he does not want to hear about Ukraine's possible gradual accession to the EU, as some of the 27 who are concerned about the hasty integration of Kiev suggest.

The first block has been opened and is fundamental," said Zelenski, on his arrival at the meeting of EU Heads of State and Government, where he thanked the leaders for the "unanimity" to take this step in the process of joining the bloc – after the new Hungarian government withdrew the veto that the country had maintained for two years.
