EU regulators plan to revamp state aid rules for small airports
EU competition regulators on Monday proposed revamping state aid rules for smaller airports, citing Europe's decarbonisation goals and the energy crisis, as part of the first overhaul of EU air transport regulations in more than a decade.
It will last until 11 June. The proposed amendments to the legislation dating back to 2014 concern operational aid to airports, which will be possible for ports of call with less than one million passengers per year
The updating of the guidelines on State aid to the sector will now be submitted for several weeks to the public consultation of interested parties, with the aim of complying with the adoption process so that they can be implemented in the first quarter of 2027.
