EU parliament adopts curbs on plastic pellet pollution

- Land freight companies have two years to comply, with maritime freight three years, despite some EU countries' push to exclude it, said César Luena, who shepherded the legislation.
- The rules apply to all companies transporting more than 5 tonnes of microplastics per year within the European Union, and all firms involved in the manufacture, transport or transformation of pellets must carry out risk assessments to prevent spills and clean up if they occur.
