Russian health officials said tests found no plague pathogens as the WHO requested more details on the cause of the researcher’s severe pneumonia.

- Established in the 1920s to study plague endemic to Siberia, the facility enforces strict security protocols. Colleagues described Shipilova as a "highly qualified and diligent researcher."
- Tests on contacts revealed only two cases of COVID-19 and two cases of rhinovirus, while local authorities quarantined the hospital and conducted apartment disinfections, according to Rospotrebnadzor.
- The World Health Organization requested further information regarding the pneumonia's cause, while Russia declared no cases of plague have been registered in the Irkutsk region.
- President Donald Trump said Tuesday he would discuss the issue "very soon" with Russian President Vladimir Putin and report about it probably tomorrow.
