A new EU customs fee has led to a fall in low-value online purchases arriving in Finland from outside the bloc, with the number of imported item lines dropping 76.3 per cent in July compared with the same month last year. Finnish Customs data show the number also fell 66.5 per cent from June, marking a change after two years of growth in low-value ecommerce imports.
In July, Chinese suppliers received 26 percent fewer small shipments, but the platforms are already adapting their business model.
According to Customs, the number of low-value goods fell by 76.3 percent from a year ago.
The new EU tariff on cheap imported goods already seems to have changed purchasing behavior in Finland. In July, the number of low-cost shipments from abroad fell sharply.
The EU's tariff on Chinese parcels introduced in July has caused the number of shipments to plummet by almost 80 percent from a year ago. The Finnish Trade Association wants the EU to take more action.
