Within the EU, too little is being done to enable fruit and vegetable growers to be members of a producer organization, with which they can compete with large retailers. This is the conclusion reached by the European Court of Auditors (ECA) in a report published on Tuesday. Only in the Netherlands and Belgium are these types of organizations large enough to negotiate from a strong position, according to the Court of Auditors.
