On Friday, EU Defence Commissioner Andrews Kubilius proposed the conclusion of a new intergovernmental European treaty to create a defence union and prepare a self-defence bloc, which he considered necessary against the background of the US' efforts to focus its attention on the Indo-Pacific region, which was referred to by Kubilius at the fourth conference of the EU Legal Service and transmitted on 17 April to the European Union.
