Belgium has activated the European Civil Protection Mechanism. The European Union has mobilised fire fighting means - helicopters and operational from several Member States - and emergency services.
The EU announced on Monday that it had coordinated the dispatch of helicopters and operations from several Member States to help combat fires in Belgium and Spain, in addition to having activated the Copernicus satellite system.
