No Esports in Doha in 2030. Excluded from the official Asian Games, a separate tournament will be established grouping it with sports like chess. The OCA has selected Kuwait as the first host city. Esports will be removed from the official Asian Games after the Aichi-Nagoya Games. This comes eight years after it made its debut as a demonstration sport at the 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Games.
Esports leaves Asian Games for dedicated 2027 event in Kuwait
Esports will no longer be part of the Asian Games programme after Aichi-Nagoya 2026, with the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) now preparing a dedicated Asian Esports and Mind Sports Games. The OCA has signed the host city contract with Kuwait to stage the inaugural edition of the new event in 2027. The announcement marks the next step in a decision the OCA Executive Board already approved in Nov. 2024.
