Espanyol crushes Rayo Vallecano to ease La Liga relegation fears

MADRID (AP) — Two goals in the first 15 minutes set relegation-threatened Espanyol on its way to a vital 4-0 win over Rayo Vallecano in La Liga on Friday.

The Espanyol, with goals by Roberto Fernández and the Uruguayan Leandro Cabrera in the first part and two more by Javi Puado and Pere Milla in the second, scored in Vallecas, took air in the standings and walked away from the descent at the expense of a Ray that, virtually saved, sees his European illusion slowed down.
