Legacy Motor Club Re-Signs Erik Jones to a Multiyear Deal for the No. 43 in the NASCAR Cup Series
Jimmie Johnson said Jones is a cornerstone of the team as Legacy Motor Club builds a three-car lineup for 2027.
- On Saturday at Kansas Speedway, Legacy Motor Club co-owner Jimmie Johnson announced that Erik Jones signed a multi-year contract extension to drive the No. Toyota Camry XSE in 2027 and beyond.
- The 30-year-old Jones joined the team in 2021 when it was known as Richard Petty Motorsports, and won the Southern 500 the following year in the car number made famous by The King.
- Johnson called Jones a "cornerstone" of the team's evolution, adding that his professionalism and knowledge are exactly what the organization needs as they build toward 2027.
- Jones said, "Through every change, we continue to get better, and I'm happy to be part of that," while noting he has recorded top-five finishes including a second-place run at Michigan.
- The team will feature an expanded operation in 2027, with incoming driver Josh Berry replacing John Hunter Nemechek in the No. Toyota, while Riley Herbst joins the lineup.
