Eric Cole gets another shot at his 1st PGA Tour win after 63 in 3rd round at Colonial
Cole matched the tournament low with a 7-under 63 and reached 12-under 198, one shot ahead of Ryan Gerard.
Eric Cole shot a season-best 7-under 63 on Saturday at the Charles Schwab Challenge in Fort Worth, Texas, taking a one-stroke lead into Sunday's final round at Colonial Country Club.
The 37-year-old Cole, son of former professional players Bobby Cole and Laura Baugh, seeks his first PGA Tour victory after entering Saturday's round tied for 25th place, five strokes off the lead.
Playing at Colonial, known as Hogan's Alley, Cole carded four birdies in his first eight holes and finished with a chip-in from 27 feet at the 16th hole to reach 12-under 198.
Ryan Gerard sits one stroke back at 11-under after finishing his round with back-to-back birdies, while Mac Meissner and J.J. Spaun trail by two strokes with rounds of 68 and 67.
On his mother's 71st birthday, Cole pursues his first tour win Sunday; he previously finished fifth at the 2025 Sony Open, his closest prior 54-hole lead finish since his 2021 PGA Tour debut.
