Epic Gold Corp. (CSE:EPG) - Four Canadian Gold Projects at a sub-C$10M EV - Research Portal
Epic Gold (EPG) is a gold-focused exploration company with the option to acquire 100% of the Hawkins, Fenton, Wilson, and Benoist gold projects in Ontario and Québec. Yesterday, the company released a MRE for the McKinnon deposit at Hawkins, located ~80 km SW of Hearst, Ontario. The resource came in at 440k oz Au at 0.98 g/t (14.0Mt; all inferred), replacing a 2020 historical estimate of 329k oz at 1.65 g/t. While the headline ounces are 34% above the historical estimate, the grade fell by ~40% with the increase appearing to be largely driven by a lower cut-off and a higher gold price assumption, which added significant low-grade tonnage. Once the full technical report is available, we will look for a full reconciliation against the historical estimate. We note that the underlying data is largely ~40 years old, the recovery assumption rests on seven samples, and the entire resource is inferred. In our view, what Epic Gold now has is a 43-101 compliant, low-grade, bulk-tonnage starting point on an optioned property. We expect additional drilling that proves higher-grade continuity or strike extension along the deformation zone, along with modern met work, to move the needle on the stock.
