EPFO Alert! Auto Settlement Limit for Advance Claims Raised From ₹1 Lakh to ₹5 Lakh for Faster Fund Access
- On Tuesday, 24 June 2025, the limit for automatic settlement of advance provident fund claims was increased from ₹1 lakh to ₹5 lakh to facilitate quicker withdrawals for eligible members.
- This increase follows earlier expansions since April 2020, when EPFO launched auto-settlement for illness claims and raised ceilings for education, marriage, and housing advances over time.
- The auto-settlement process applies automatic, human-free approval to claims up to ₹5 lakh for various purposes, with over 2.34 crore claims processed in 2024-25, a 161% rise from 89.52 lakh in 2023-24.
- Minister Mansukh Mandaviya stated this reform will help lakhs of members receive funds faster amid urgent needs, with 76.52 lakh claims auto-settled in the first 2.5 months of FY 2025-26, forming 70% of total claims.
- The limit increase reflects EPFO's focus on automation to improve service speed and transparency, and social media users praised it as a step towards timely financial dignity for members.
