The EU Commission has cleared the way for an industrial electricity price to relieve energy-intensive companies.
Brussels is opening the door to an industrial electricity price – but not without something in return. Companies can hope for state aid, but in return they must invest in their green future.
Relieving companies of high electricity costs – the German government wants the industrial electricity price to help with this. According to the EU Commission, this could happen now. However, the German government is pursuing different goals than Berlin.
Industrial companies in Germany can expect state-funded electricity in the future – if they switch to climate-friendly processes. The expansion of infrastructure is also to be supported with billions.
The EU paves the way for Reich tax plans and now allows state-subsidized electricity price caps for energy-intensive industries – subject to conditions. New aid for nuclear power, e-fuels and green technologies are also possible in the future.
Brussels will approve subsidies for the operating costs of EU companies in order to prevent energy-intensive industries from moving to countries with cheaper electricity prices, bringing the EU Commission closer to German demands for an industrial electricity price.
