The Spanish Society of Endocrinology and Nutrition (SEEN), the Spanish Society of Diabetes (SED) and the Spanish Society of Paediatric Endocrinology (SEEP) have emphasized the importance of detecting type 1 diabetes prior to clinical debut, that is, prior to symptoms, to avoid and reduce complications, such as diabetic ketoacidosis.
In this regard, Dr. Ignacio Conget, an endocrinologist and member of the Diabetes Area of the SEEN, argues that “the standardization of the management of people before the clinical debut would facilitate and help homogenize the process to follow throughout the country, which would improve the health of patients and also benefit the prognosis of type 1 diabetes.” In this same vein, Dr.
