Emu briefly roams Salisbury Bypass, returned safely to owners

The Maryland State Police Salisbury Barrack responded to an unusual call Saturday after an emu was reported in the roadway near the Salisbury Bypass and Ocean City Exit.

Escaped emu lead police on hours-long chase, captured safely

An escaped emu kept Maryland State Police busy on the Salisbury Bypass Saturday.Around 10:50 a.m., police got a call for an emu in the road way near the Ocean City exit.Troopers were able to catch the emu with a dog leash at around 2 p.m. in the area of Pheasant Drive. The emu was returned to its owners an hour later.The emu was struck by a car around 1:30 p.m., but was not injured.
