ImageTrend's 2026 EMS Insights Report Reveals How Prehospital Care Is Evolving Nationwide

On Tuesday, ImageTrend released its 2026 EMS Insights Report analyzing more than 18 million EMS activations in 2025 across all 50 states, revealing significant shifts in prehospital care delivery.
While previous reports established a national baseline, the 2026 edition shifts focus to how EMS is changing over time, drawing on more than 157 million activations since 2018.
Behavioral health-related responses surged from 9.8% in 2023 to 11.7% in 2025, while trauma incidents climbed from 17.9% to 18.6%, totaling 2,317,428 cases; ground-based blood transfusions nearly doubled from 5% to 10%.
Chief Growth Officer Joe Graw stated, "What stands out in this year's data isn't just the volume; it's the shift in how care is being delivered," as gaps persist: 72% of trauma patients had documented pain scores but only 18% received medication.
Just over 3% of EMS records include hospital outcome information, limiting industry visibility into patient impact despite ImageTrend serving more than 3,100 direct customers representing 21,000+ agencies nationwide.
