Iconic EastEnders Villain Set to Move to Emmerdale in Major New Switch
EMMERDALE, YORKSHIRE DALES, ENGLAND, JUL 23 – Chris Coghill joins Emmerdale as Kev, a mysterious character whose arrival will impact multiple villagers and unfold a major storyline in September, producer Laura Shaw said.
- In a fresh casting move, Emmerdale recruited Chris Coghill, best known for playing Tony King in EastEnders, as Kev, with his first appearance airing late September.
- Questions remain about who Kev is searching for and his motives, Mirror reports the storyline will send "shockwaves", and Laura Shaw said `Kev has a strong connection to one of our characters`.
- Chris Coghill’s past credits include The Bay, Slow Horses and Shameless, his Tony and Whitney storyline prompted over 200 complaints to the BBC and Ofcom, and the NSPCC commended the plot for “helping to raise awareness of the hidden nature of sexual abuse”.
- Laura Shaw hinted at Kev’s initial portrayal as a seemingly lost newcomer seeking directions, a major storyline will feature Aaron Dingle and Mackenzie Boyd in September, and reports say the plot spans several episodes on a specially constructed set.
- A source told The Sun Kev will “set the cat amongst the pigeons” in the village and drive huge autumn storylines, and Laura Shaw said `I think the viewers will be intrigued to see how the character of Kev will cause shockwaves this autumn`.
