WASHINGTON, UNITED STATES, JUL 25 – Emma Raducanu extended her unbeaten streak against Maria Sakkari to four matches with a 6-4, 7-5 win, boosting her ranking to 32nd and improving her seeding chances for upcoming majors.
- On Friday, Emma Raducanu reached the semi-finals of the Mubadala Citi DC Open in Washington with a straight-sets win over Maria Sakkari, 6-4, 7-5.
- Before the quarter-final, Raducanu had never dropped a set to Sakkari in their three prior encounters, extending that flawless run to four straight victories.
- Amid searing temperatures, a physio was called to check on Raducanu, highlighting the match’s physical toll.
- The victory will move Raducanu past Katie Boulter as British No 1 on Monday, and she will face Clara Tauson or Anna Kalinskaya in the semi-finals.
- With her ranking boost, the result puts her in line to be seeded at the Cincinnati Open beginning on August 4, and it will also secure a seeding at the US Open three weeks later.
