Emma Raducanu Delighted with ‘the Whole Package’ After Convincing Queen’s Win
Raducanu beat Anna Blinkova 6-0, 6-3 in one hour and said she wants to carry that freer approach through the grass season.
On Tuesday, British number one Emma Raducanu opened her grass-court campaign with a 6-0 6-3 victory over qualifier Anna Blinkova at the HSBC Championships at the Club in London.
The win comes after the 23-year-old reunited with Open-winning coach Andrew Richardson, following a difficult first-round exit at the French Open last month.
Playing with "clarity," Raducanu noted she felt "free" while recovering from two and a half months of post-viral illness that limited her match play.
The victory sets up a second-round match against either Sorana Cirstea or Maddison Inglis as Raducanu builds momentum ahead of the Wimbledon season.
Raducanu reached the quarterfinals at the Club last year and described this match as a "stepping stone" to embrace the grass-court season with renewed confidence.
