EU Increased Greenhouse Gas Emissions by 2.2% Y/y in Q1

Emissions of greenhouse gases in the EU as a whole increased by 2.2 per cent in the fourth quarter of 2024 compared with the same period in 2023; emissions decreased in only 6 of the 27 EU member countries.

At the beginning of spring, the European Union imported Russian fertilizers worth EUR 206.1 million, representing approximately 15% more, both monthly and annual. At the same time, the value of European imports was the highest since November 2022, when it amounted to EUR 263.5 million.

In the fourth quarter of last year, emissions of greenhouse gases in the river community rose by 2.2%, accompanied by a small growth of 1.5%, Eurostat reveals.
