Emirates Unveils New Premium Economy Seat: It Might Be The World's Best
The airline says the seat is the industry’s first fully electric premium economy model, with 28 seats in a 2-3-2 cabin and retractable privacy screens.
On Thursday, Emirates launched a premium economy seat for its new Airbus A350 jets, featuring an electrically operated privacy divider, electric recline, and a 4K screen.
The airline industry's shift toward premium economy arrives as global passenger revenue approaches $900 billion by 2027, with annual growth settling into low single digits.
Each cabin consists of 28 seats in a 2-3-2 configuration with 39-inch pitch and 20-inch width, alongside the newly introduced U-Dream headrest, wireless charging, and USB-C ports.
Emirates plans to install this product exclusively on newly delivered Airbus A350s; existing A380s and Boeing aircraft will retain the previous generation premium economy.
While the 39-inch pitch exceeds average, competitors like EVA Air offer 423 of pitch, yet the U-Dream headrest positions Emirates' product as setting a new standard for premium economy.
