Kaigene Enters Into Exclusive Licensing Agreement with Taisho Pharmaceutical for Next-Generation Autoimmune Asset KG006 in Japan

- On Thursday, Kaigene Inc. announced an exclusive licensing agreement with Taisho Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. to develop and commercialize KG006, a next-generation FcRn inhibitor, in Japan.
- Under the agreement, Kaigene receives a $5 million upfront payment and is eligible for up to $22 million and ¥57.5 billion, approximately $351 million, in milestone payments plus tiered royalties.
- This partnership establishes a three-way clinical development framework with Celltrion Inc., which holds global rights outside Japan and Greater China, to accelerate the Multi-Regional Clinical Trial Phase 3 study.
- Taisho brings significant expertise in autoimmune therapeutics, having successfully developed and commercialized Nanozora, an anti-TNF VHH antibody for Rheumatoid Arthritis treatment in Japan.
