- Rep. Jess Hanson, DFL-Burnsville, called Musk's challenge 'absolutely disgusting' and stated the ban is 'designed to protect children from sexual exploitation,' while xAI argued it 'strictly prohibits its users from generating nude or sexualized images of people without their consent.'
- Lawmakers planned a celebration Wednesday before the lawsuit announcement disrupted the nation's first such ban, with Sen. Erin Maye Quade, DFL-Apple Valley, noting the bill simply requires apps and websites to disable nudification functions.
- Musk has previously challenged Minnesota's political deepfake statute; while Congress passed the 2025 Take It Down Act to criminalize non-consensual publication of intimate images, that federal legislation stopped short of penalizing deepfake creation.
