Elkview man who had 4 murder convictions of family overturned set to go on trial again

An Elkview man, who was a teenager when he allegedly killed four family members, is set to go to trial for the second time for the crimes. Gavin Blaine Smith will stand trial again beginning at 9 a.m. on June 22, 2026, in Kanawha County Circuit Court Judge Kenneth Ballard's court, according to Ballard's office staffers on June 12, 2026.
