'I Love My Job': Beloved Indiana Teacher Retires After 52 Years
- After more than five decades of educating young learners at St. Anthony of Padua, Mary Pickerrell will conclude her teaching career this Friday, ending her longstanding role working with kindergarten and first-grade students.
- She remained at the school for over five decades because she found her classroom to be a happy place among kind people.
- Pickerrell spent more than 9,000 days educating over 1,000 children on N. Sherwood Avenue during her career.
- She expressed that when you are passionate about your work, it doesn’t feel like a job, and mentioned how deeply she will miss it.
- Upon retirement, Pickerrell intends to journey with her spouse and enjoy quality moments with their six children and ten grandchildren.
