No Longer a Secret, Nathan Fielder's Elizabeth Holmes Doc 'You Can See Everything' Lands in New York
The nearly three-hour film uses intimate footage, recreations and surprise turns as it follows Holmes in the 34 days before prison.
- On Wednesday, the New York Film Festival hosted the sold-out premiere of "You Can See Everything," a documentary by Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim. Fans queued at Alice Tully Hall as early as 3 a.m. for the 8 p.m. screening.
- Shot secretly over three years, the documentary captures Holmes, founder of the medical testing company Theranos, during the 34 days before she entered a Texas prison in May 2023. Theranos was once valued at $4.5 billion before its collapse.
- Holmes allowed Fielder, creator of "Nathan For You" and "The Rehearsal," and Oppenheim to document her life with partner Billy Evans and their two children. Fielder lived in a guest house at their Del Mar, California, beachside home during filming.
- Filmmaker Oppenheim noted that "every person who worked on this movie was going through a similar cognitive dissonance." Fielder admitted he questioned if Holmes was "a liar," seeking to explore identity and performance.
- Since debuting at the Telluride Film Festival on Sept. 6, "You Can See Everything" emerged as one of the year's most buzzed-about films. A24 will release the documentary on Oct. 16.
