In the United States, Ford, General Motors and their Korean partners such as LG Energy Solution, Samsung SDI or Panasonic have multiplied gigafactories. In a decade, these groups have committed more than $100 billion, or about €90 billion, to battery plants. As a result, installed capacity already reaches 275 gigawatt hours per year. This will equip nearly 3.4 million electric cars with an 80 kWh battery.
