Elections Alberta says it has started sending out ballots on Tuesday for this fall’s referendum. Director of elections operations Jennifer Maskoske told CBC News that 230,000 requests for ballots have been made.

As of Aug. 31, Elections Alberta says around 225,000 people have applied for the ballot. In the 2023 provincial election, that number was 59,589.
