Elbit Systems launches AI-based autonomous defence tech unit
- On Wednesday, Elbit Systems launched FUSE in Rosh HaAyin, Israel, a new business unit consolidating the defense contractor's autonomous drone and ground vehicle systems into a single portfolio.
- Under Dominion-X software, FUSE integrates autonomous platforms using "One2Many" operational capabilities, enabling a single operator to coordinate large-scale swarms of aerial and ground formations simultaneously.
- FUSE employs 160 people, with around 65% serving as engineers, and has logged more than 1,000,000 operational flight hours alongside over 100,000 autonomous ground operation hours across global platforms.
- The subsidiary has already secured contracts worth hundreds of millions of dollars, including THOR drone systems for the U.S. military through Mistral Inc and various European deals.
- CEO Eyal Dahan emphasized that combat effectiveness increasingly depends on integrating autonomous systems; however, Elbit officials confirmed humans must remain in the loop for all targeting decisions to minimize collateral harm.
