- Services on the Matrouh-Moharram Bek railway line were halted as crews cleared wreckage, the three bodies moved to Ras El-Hekma Hospital mortuary under Public Prosecution, and ENRA pledged punishment while Maya Morsi coordinated relief.
- The derailment is the latest in a series of recent rail accidents, linked to Egypt's ageing railway system and lack of investment; President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi said $8.13 billion is needed to overhaul it.
