Japan Suspends Eddie Jones for Verbally Abusing Officials
The JRFU also docked his pay, and Jones will miss four Japan matches, including the Nations Championship opener against Italy.
Japan head coach Eddie Jones was suspended by the Japanese Rugby Football Union following findings of verbal abuse directed at match officials, a decision Jones accepted.
Incidents during a recent U23 Japan National Team tour of Australia prompted the suspension after Jones allegedly directed verbal abuse at local match officials.
Beyond the six-week ban from all coaching activity, the JRFU reduced Jones's salary; he issued an apology, stating "I deeply regret my behaviour and words."
Jones will miss four national team fixtures, beginning with the Nations Championship opener for Japan against Italy in Tokyo on July 4.
Despite the suspension, the former England and Australia boss is still scheduled to lead the national team into the next Rugby World Cup, having returned to Japan in 2024.
