Ecuadorean Prosecutor's Office requested on Wednesday six and a half years in prison for former President Lenin Moreno who was tried for allegedly receiving bribes from a Chinese company that built one of the largest hydroelectric power plants in the country.
On Wednesday, July 8, the Attorney General's Office concluded its closing arguments in the Sinohydro trial and upheld the charge of bribery against former President Lenin Moreno, businessman Conto Patiño and the rest of the defendants, although it requested the Court of Juzgation to exclude one of the accused as an accomplice from the proceedings.
