Ecuadornews: The armed forces and the national police of Ecuador yesterday executed a large deployment of personnel to the capital of the country and provinces of the Sierra Norte, during the 19th day of the indefinite national strike, convened by the Confederation of Indigenous Nationalities of Ecuador (Conaie), in rejection of the elimination of the subsidy to diesel, decreed by the government.
CONAIE and D.H.H. collectives warned that the Government of Noboa had set up assemblies to criminalize the community and justify armed intervention.
The Minister of Defense warned that no one will take over the city and that the control of order will be “strongly and within the law”
The demonstrations, which concentrated on the outskirts of the capital, resulted in one death and 160 injuries.
