Independent EspañolQUITO (AP) — The National Assembly of Ecuador approved on Tuesday a legal reform so that the armed forces can support the police in internal security tasks and the fight against organized crime, without the need for the government to declare a state of emergency.
In the second debate, the National Assembly approved the draft law establishing the conditions, procedures, limits and responsibilities for the complementary and subsidiary support of the Armed Forces to the National Police, which seeks to regulate a form of operational cooperation that, as approved, will be exceptional, temporary, motivated and subject to institutional controls.
