The European Central Bank raised interest rates in the eurozone by a quarter of a percentage point on Thursday, after a mid-summer pause, with the assessment that inflation should remain above the target of two percent for a longer period due to rising energy prices.

According to expert forecasts, general inflation is expected to average 3.0% in 2026, 2.5% in 2027 and 2.1% in 2028.
