eBay makes major change to listing rules affecting millions of buyers and sellers
Cards sold for £500 or more will be inspected by Professional Sports Authenticator before delivery as eBay expands its buyer protection service.
The marketplace launched its Authenticity Guarantee for trading cards listed above £500, affecting millions of buyers and sellers in a major shift to listing rules.
Trust is critical in the world of collectables, and the platform leverages 30 years of expertise and innovation to enhance buyer and seller experiences.
Sellers must send qualifying items to a Professional Sports Authenticator for physical inspection; once approved, items ship with an e-tag and QR code for verification.
Adam Ireland, Vice President and General Manager, Global Collectables, said the expansion "offers buyers and sellers an enhanced experience for high-value trading card transactions, and represents a global milestone."
The service will expand to all trading cards priced above £500 by June, with previous high-value sales including the Edition Shadowless Charizard Base Set Holo Rare.
