Major eBay Change From Next Month Will Affect Millions of UK Sellers
Eligible UK sellers will be moved automatically, and eBay says the new service can reach buyers in more than 195 countries.
- From August, International Shipping will replace the Global Shipping Programme for eligible listings on eBay.co.uk, connecting sellers with buyers in almost 200 countries—nearly double the current 105.
- Despite the overhaul, the process for sellers remains largely unchanged; they simply send sold items to a domestic shipping hub, where eBay manages customs documentation, international delivery, and post-sale support.
- There could also be savings for overseas customers, with international delivery costs up to 30% cheaper, while eBay removes international selling fees and protects sellers against claims for lost or damaged items.
- Eve Williams, General Manager, eBay UK, said the service is their "most comprehensive international shipping solution yet," helping sellers spend more time growing their business rather than navigating logistics.
- Before the automatic enrollment occurs, eligible users will receive a notification confirming when their account updates; the rollout happens in phases throughout August with no seller action required until then.
