East Helena Man Gets Probation After Gun Incident Near High School
He pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of a firearm in a school zone and was ordered to 5 years of probation and 80 hours of community service.
Ryan Christopher Williams was sentenced to five years of probation and 80 hours of community service after pleading guilty in February 2026 to unlawful possession of a firearm in a school zone.
The case stemmed from a May 1, 2025, encounter in East Helena where Williams allegedly "used evasive driving to cut off the victim" before approaching the vehicle with a pistol.
During the confrontation, Williams allegedly pointed a gun at the victim, who "partly rolled down their window," and complained about their speed within 1,000 feet of East Helena High School.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Lewis and Clark County Sheriff conducted the investigation, which U.S. District Judge Brian Morris oversaw.
Investigators linked a vehicle on the 2700 block of Bandera Drive to Williams; although he acknowledged stopping the student while armed, he denied pointing the gun.
