East Grand Forks Public Schools starting before Labor Day in 2026-27 after modification to state law

EAST GRAND FORKS — After the Legislature's passage of a bill to temporarily modify school start dates, the East Grand Forks School District will be sending students back to class before Labor Day next school year. Since 1985, Minnesota law has required schools to start after Labor Day. However, in 2026 and 2027, Labor Day falls on Sept. 7 and Sept. 6, respectively.
