By Robert Haugh San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan’s campaign for California governor ended badly on Tuesday night. Early election-night results showed Mahan in sixth place, with just 4.5 percent of the vote. Just before 9pm tonight, primary election governor’s race results from Santa Clara County showed former congressman and former California Attorney General Xavier Becerra in the lead with 52,591 votes (29.27%), followed by Republican Steve Hilton with 40,627 (22.61%), then Democrat Tom Steyer with 37,081 (20.64%), then San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan 19,592 (10.91%) and Katie Porter 10,072 (5.61%).
