'All Eyes in the Sky': SpaceX Rocket Launch Creates Jellyfish-Like Cloud over Florida
The CRS-35 cargo mission carried more than 6,300 pounds of supplies and equipment to the International Space Station, NASA said.
On Tuesday, October 13, 2026, a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launched from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station at 6:33 a.m., creating a glowing "jellyfish effect" visible across Florida during the CRS-35 cargo mission to the International Space Station.
Sunlight rising below the horizon illuminates rocket exhaust plumes high in the atmosphere while the ground remains dark, creating a shimmering, bluish-orange display visible across the East Coast and beyond.
The Cargo Dragon spacecraft is delivering about 6,500 pounds of supplies and scientific experiments, including the final pair of International Space Station Roll-Out Solar Arrays to increase the station's available electrical power.
About eight minutes after liftoff, the first-stage booster completed its eighth flight, landing at Landing Zone 40. SpaceX warned residents in Brevard and Orange counties of potential sonic booms during the recovery.
NASA expects the Dragon to dock at the International Space Station around 11 a.m. Thursday, October 15, after a 52-hour flight. The mission fills a docking port vacated last week when Crew-12 departed.
