Eagles RB Tank Bigsby to Have Surgery on a Core Muscle Injury
Tank Bigsby is expected to miss about six weeks after core muscle surgery, leaving the Eagles with one healthy running back on the active roster.
On Monday, Philadelphia Eagles running back Tank Bigsby underwent core muscle surgery and was placed on Injured Reserve following an injury sustained during Sunday's 24-20 loss to the Los Angeles Rams.
During the loss to the Rams, starting running back Saquon Barkley exited early with a hamstring issue, forcing Bigsby into expanded duty with 14 carries for 54 yards before his injury.
With Bigsby now sidelined, Will Shipley is the only healthy running back on the active roster; head coach Nick Sirianni declined to provide an update on Barkley's status for Sunday's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The Eagles may elevate veteran running backs Dameon Pierce, Carson Steele, or Jaydon Blue from the practice squad to the 53-man roster this week depending on Barkley's availability.
Reports suggest Bigsby could return in six weeks following the procedure at the Philadelphia-based Vincera Institute, though the Eagles face immediate depth challenges heading to London.
