Lawsuit alleges Freedom Fuel gas stations touted by Trump are selling stolen fuel
Mansfield Oil says KRSM bought more than 1 million gallons of fuel and never paid, helping Freedom Fuel sell gas at $3.47 a gallon.
- Georgia-Based Mansfield Oil Co. filed a complaint on August 19 alleging that KRSM, a company run by Syed Kazmi, acquired more than 1 million gallons of fuel worth roughly $4 million from a Sunoco terminal without paying, with some fuel ending up at Freedom Fuel Network's 29 locations.
- Ahead of July 4, Freedom Fuel stations gained national attention when President Donald Trump praised their $3.47-a-gallon pricing, claiming owners were "doing this because they love the U.S.A."
- Detailed by Politico on Friday, the complaint alleges: "KRSM was able to sell such fuel for such low prices and garner such publicity because it never paid Plaintiffs for such fuel."
- The White House insisted there has been "zero contact or dealings" with Kazmi, while KRSM dismissed the dispute as a mix-up over misplaced invoices in an emailed statement.
- Shamikh Kazmi's company previously faced a default judgment in February for "serial flouting of Court orders" regarding roughly $667,000 in unpaid fuel theft, plus a 2024 judgment involving stolen cigarettes.
